Khimki have signed veteran point guard EJ Rowland in a so far undisclosed deal but while there was good news, the Russian side were met with bad news, too.
Guard Alexey Shved is out with an ankle injury and will miss the start of the EuroCup season as he requires surgery.
Shved will be out for at least six to eight weeks and could miss at least the first two game of the new season.
But the signing of the 33-year-old Rowland will put the club at ease now as they have found a suitable replacement for Tyrese Rice who joined Barcelona.
Rowland joins Khimki from Hapoel Jerusalem.
