Rio 2016 Mens basketball tournament – an analytics look – Day 1

Introduction

Dear TalkBasket fans, Vilius our co-owner and Arkadios our editor-in-chief here at Talk Basket has graced me with an opportunity to share my insights as a data scientist and basketball analytics expert with you. I do highly apologize being dormant for the last couple of weeks with this summer having worked over time, following the Olympic qualifying tournament in Manila where Turkey had been eliminated, the transfer season in Europe going full blast and tracking and recommending several international and domestic players to teams in Turkey, along side working with youth development players in İstanbul and having shared stuff on the workouts on social media, I am back yet again with you all.

This series of postings will cover as pointed out in its title the Mens basketball tournament being played out during the 2016 Rio Olympics. I will be sharing simple stats as well as lineup analysis about the games played out on a daily basis and some brief short notes.
