Thunder guard Isaiah Joe is widely recognized as one of the NBA’s most reliable three-point shooters, but his overall impact extends well beyond scoring from long range, according to Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman.
The 26-year-old continues to prove that his value comes from contributing in multiple areas that help Oklahoma City succeed.
Joe delivered a standout performance against the Cavaliers on Sunday, matching his season high with 22 points while knocking down six of his 11 attempts from beyond the arc.
In addition to his scoring, he made a major defensive impact, recording a career-high five steals along with three assists and two rebounds across 30 minutes of action.
Joe said defense has always been a point of personal pride, especially given the challenges of competing as a smaller guard.
“From a young age, I’ve always taken pride in it,” Joe said of his defense.
“Being undersized out there, you don’t want to be the weak link. With this team that we have, we have tremendous defenders. We can almost live and die on our defense every single game. So whenever I’m out there I just try to stay physical, make the right rotations, take charges and try to win on the defensive end.”

Teammate Cason Wallace, who recorded his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 assists in the same game, praised Joe’s versatility and basketball IQ.
“He’s a great cutter,” Wallace said. “If you overplay him, he’s very smart. He’ll back-cut you and finish at the rim. He’s a high-level rebounder. He has a full game, for sure.”
