Jaylen Brown records triple-double as Celtics spoil Kristaps Porzingis’ Warriors debut

Jaylen Brown delivered a historic all-around performance Thursday night, posting 23 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists to power the Boston Celtics to a 121-110 win over the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.

The victory marked Boston’s seventh win in its last eight games and improved the club to 35-19, solidifying its hold on second place in the Eastern Conference.

Brown recorded his third triple-double of the season and the fifth of his career, setting a career high with 13 assists while matching his personal best with 15 rebounds.

The All-Star, who entered the night as the East’s leading scorer before the break, controlled the pace from the opening quarter as eight Celtics scored in the first 12 minutes.

Boston broke the game open in the second quarter with a 17-2 run, repeatedly attacking the paint and building a 74-51 halftime advantage.

The Celtics shot 52% from the field and 43% from 3-point range, finishing with 36 assists on 49 made baskets.

Payton Pritchard added 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 6-of-11 from deep, and Sam Hauser contributed 16 points with four 3-pointers.

Derrick White chipped in 10 points, eight assists and four blocks as Boston’s defense limited clean looks early and forced Golden State into difficult half-court possessions.

The Warriors were without Stephen Curry, sidelined by a knee injury, and fell to 6-11 this season in games he has missed.

Golden State rallied in the fourth quarter after trailing by 30, cutting the deficit to 111-99 on a Gary Payton II dunk with six minutes remaining.

Pritchard responded with back-to-back 3-pointers to halt the momentum and secure the outcome.

De’Anthony Melton led the Warriors with 18 points, while Gui Santos and Will Richard each scored 17.

Kristaps Porzingis, making his Golden State debut after being acquired from Atlanta at the trade deadline, finished with 12 points in 17 minutes.
