FC Barcelona overturned a halftime deficit with a dominant third quarter to defeat Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 97-91 on Friday at Buesa Arena, strengthening its position in the EuroLeague top four.
The Catalan club improved to 17-10 in the standings and now sits fourth with 11 regular-season games remaining, while the Basque side fell to 9-18 after another close defeat at home.
Will Clyburn once again delivered at Buesa Arena, finishing with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds after scoring just two points in the first half. The veteran forward sparked the turnaround with step-back threes, a transition dunk and a low-post finish that shifted the momentum.
Barcelona trailed 51-48 early in the third period before tightening spacing and pushing the pace, converting 5-of-6 three-point attempts in the quarter. Ball movement became decisive as the visitors recorded seven assists with only two turnovers, turning a deficit into a 76-68 lead.
Joel Parra and Toko Shengelia paced the offense with 16 points each, while Nico Laprovittola added 15 and Dario Brizuela scored 14. It marked the first time in EuroLeague history that five Barcelona players finished with at least 14 points in the same game.
The visitors shot 50 percent from three-point range and finished with 24 assists, using quick decision-making to attack Baskonia’s closeouts. Despite losing Kevin Punter to an injury midway through the fourth quarter, Barcelona maintained control through disciplined half-court execution.
Baskonia stayed competitive through efficient free-throw shooting, converting 32-of-35 attempts, and received 16 points from Mamadi Diakite and 12 from Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. However, the hosts struggled from long distance, making just 5-of-21 three-point attempts, which limited their ability to match Barcelona’s offensive bursts.
The win extended Clyburn’s strong record at Buesa Arena, where he has now won nine of his last ten EuroLeague appearances with four different teams. Barcelona will look to maintain momentum as the playoff race tightens, while Baskonia continues searching for consistency in the final stretch of the regular season.
