Senior ESPN reporter trolled on Twitter, fools other basketball journalists

One of ESPN’s lead basketball writers Marc Stein is the latest in a line of journalists to have a fake account. But this one is nearly nailed on.

Stein, who regularly covers the NBA and USA Basketball for ESPN has approximately 922,000-plus followers on Twitter and is known for well-worded features and breaking NBA stories.

Then this shocker of a tweet surfaced..

Now despite the real Marc Stein having a verified Twitter account, the blue badge that signals the verification normally does not show unless you click on the person’s account. So once people saw this tweet regarding the Philadelphia 76ers approaching Harrison Barnes, they all had confused responses – but most importantly – they believed the rumour.

The tweet also saw it retweeted and liked many times as well before they realised that it was a fake account.

Not bad though.
