Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks are not close to reaching an agreement involving Anthony Davis, with no real progress having been made in discussions, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
At this stage, talks between the two sides are described as lacking any “meaningful traction.”
Atlanta’s level of interest in pursuing Davis is also tied to its broader financial picture, particularly the challenge of potentially moving Trae Young’s contract.
However, Dallas’ priorities complicate that possibility, as the Mavericks are focused on acquiring expiring contracts, younger players, and draft capital, making it clear that Young would not factor into a deal between the teams.
While the Hawks are reportedly open to including rookie forward Zaccharie Risacher in the “right deal,” Stein notes that a trade centered around Davis would not meet the criteria required for Atlanta to move the former top pick.
On Dallas’ side, any serious push appears unlikely without coordination with Davis’ representation.
The Mavericks have been in contact with his agent, Rich Paul, and it is widely believed the team would not proceed without his involvement.
Paul is said to view Atlanta favorably as a possible destination for Davis, though that interest has yet to translate into tangible movement between the franchises.
