The Milwaukee Bucks have made it clear they’re exploring ways to strengthen their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo, but their limited trade assets make it difficult to pursue true superstar upgrades.
As a result, the front office has been focusing on players who come with some level of risk – whether due to injury history, contract structure, or fit – but still offer meaningful upside.
One name that could resurface in trade discussions is New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray.
Milwaukee previously showed interest in Murray during his time with both the Spurs and the Hawks, and that curiosity may return depending on how things develop this season.
Murray is expected to make his season debut sometime in January as he continues his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon suffered on January 31 of last year.
If he returns looking close to form, the Bucks could view him as a potential target, especially given New Orleans’ depth at the position.
The Pelicans currently have rookie Jeremiah Fears handling starting duties, with veteran Jose Alvarado backing him up, making Murray somewhat expendable if the team chooses to reshuffle its roster.
Financially, Murray is earning $30.8 million this season and is under contract for $32.8 million next year, with a $30.7 million player option for the 2027–28 season.
While the commitment is significant, Milwaukee may see value if his production and health align with their championship window around Antetokounmpo.
