Joan Creus to step down as Barcelona GM

Barcelona general manager Joan Creus has announced that he will be stepping down from his role.

With change at the club for this season almost inevitable, Creus will leave his post with Barcelona unable to claim any trophies this past season.

It’s time to stop,” Creus said on Barca TV. “If you do not achieve your goals, you have to give room to others.”

It’s been reported by Greek outlet Eurohoops, that current Barcelona coach Xavi Pascual is leaving the club after eight years at the helm and being replaced Sarunas Jasikevicius.

With that, and other reported departures at the Catalan club, Creus has decided to step down.

The purpose of a club like Barca is to win one of the three major titles, it’s an unwritten rule,” he said. “What we require is to be among the best. You can be positive just because we have changed many players this season and needed a period of adaptation.

“I think we should change much for next season. No need to touch as many things as last summer. When a season is not working, we try to tweak things to succeed.”
