League executives are increasingly focused on how the next contract for Jalen Duren might take shape, as the young big man puts together the strongest season of his career just before entering restricted free agency.

Writing for The Stein Line, Jake Fischer notes that rival teams are monitoring Duren closely, aware that his trajectory could place him among the highest-paid centers of his age group.

Although the Detroit Pistons don’t command the same spotlight as rebuilding contenders like the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs, there’s a growing sense within front offices that Detroit’s long-term foundation is just as strong.

Fischer relays that some decision-makers around the league believe the Pistons are positioned to be competitive well into the next half-decade, with Duren playing a central role in that outlook.

From a financial standpoint, those beliefs could translate into a massive payday. Based on current expectations, Duren’s second contract could reasonably climb beyond the $40 million-per-year range.

If he qualifies for a full five-year maximum deal as a fifth-year player next summer, projections suggest that annual salary figures north of $48 million would be on the table, underscoring how highly teams value his development and upside.
