Baskonia adds Gytis Radzevicius to boost perimeter depth

Baskonia announced on Wednesday, December 3, the signing of Lithuanian forward Gytis Radzevicius from Rytas Vilnius. The 1.97-meter wing joins the team on a contract through the end of the season, with an option for an additional year.

Baskonia parted ways with Hamidou Diallo before signing Radzevicius. Reportedly, Diallo is headed to China after agreeing to a substantial buyout.

Radzevicius brings Basketball Champions League experience, where he is averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and a 44.4% three-point shooting rate this season. Baskonia expects him to pass his medical exams and integrate with coach Paolo Galbiati’s rotation in the coming days.

The Vitoria-Gasteiz squad currently sits 17th in the EuroLeague standings with a 4-9 record, scoring 1,112 points while conceding 1,170 through 13 games. The team has struggled on the road, holding a 0-6 record away from home.

Baskonia’s current roster features key contributors such as Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who leads the team with 19.6 points per game, and Hamidou Diallo, who averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest. Radzevicius adds depth to the wing rotation, complementing existing scorers and defenders.

The Lithuanian forward has a proven ability to stretch defenses, with his three-point efficiency a potential weapon for Baskonia’s offense. His arrival provides flexibility in both small-ball and traditional lineups, where the club has sought scoring options outside of Luwawu-Cabarrot and Markus Howard.

Baskonia has struggled to find consistent offensive production, ranking near the bottom of the EuroLeague in points per game. Radzevicius’ scoring and rebounding presence is expected to ease pressure on primary scorers and help stabilize rotations.
