Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball is reportedly frustrated by the team’s lack of forward progress, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. While Ball is not considered a character concern, sources note his repeated injuries and limited availability have contributed to his growing frustration.
Ball, 24, is in the second year of a five-year, $204 million contract but has played fewer than 48 games in each of the last three seasons due to injury. His durability remains a concern leaguewide, limiting the Hornets’ ability to build momentum around their young star.
The Hornets are off to a 4-13 start in the 2025-26 season, struggling to find consistent winning ways despite Ball averaging 21.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 9.3 assists in his 10 games played. Brandon Miller leads the team with 18.8 points per game, while Miles Bridges adds 22.1 points over 16 contests.
Fischer compared Ball’s situation to that of Anthony Davis in Dallas, noting that Charlotte is unlikely to receive significant trade interest until Ball demonstrates sustained production, health, and winning results. Sources indicate the Hornets currently have no plans to move their star guard.
Charlotte has a mix of veterans and young talent, but the roster’s inconsistency and injuries have compounded frustrations. Collin Sexton, Tre Mann, and Moussa Diabate contribute sporadically, yet the team ranks near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
