Kenneth Faried leads Panathinaikos to statement road win over Real Madrid

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens recorded a convincing 87–77 victory over Real Madrid at Movistar Arena on Thursday. Kenneth Faried made an immediate impact in his first EuroLeague games with the Greens, powering the team to a crucial road win.

Faried scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting inside the arc and added eight rebounds, including four offensive boards that generated extra scoring opportunities. His aggressive play matched up against Edy Tavares helped Panathinaikos dominate the paint and control the tempo.

TJ Shorts contributed a season-high 19 points along with six assists and four rebounds, steadily finding his rhythm after a slow start in Greece. His efficiency in the backcourt complemented Faried’s presence inside, giving the Greens balance on both ends of the floor.

Panathinaikos overcame a strong Real Madrid first half, trailing in the opening quarter but steadily building momentum in the second to take a 52–38 lead at halftime. Madrid’s Tavares and Andres Feliz combined for 36 points, but the hosts could not contain Panathinaikos’s physicality and offensive execution.

Despite Real Madrid shooting 33.3% from three-point range and securing 41 total rebounds, Panathinaikos maintained control with sharp ball movement, ending the game with 17 assists and a balanced scoring effort. The Greens also forced key turnovers and limited Madrid’s second-chance points.

Panathinaikos improves to 7–4 in the EuroLeague standings and will return home to face Dubai Basketball next Thursday, aiming to continue its momentum. Real Madrid falls to 5–6 and will host Zalgiris Kaunas on the same day in Round 12.
