Grayson Allen scored a career-high 42 points, including a franchise-record 10 3-pointers, to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 121-98 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night at the Mortgage Matchup Center. Allen shot 12 for 17 from the field and 10 for 15 from beyond the arc, finishing 5 for 5 in the third quarter with 17 points.
Devin Booker added 19 points, while Dillon Brooks contributed 18 as Phoenix won its third straight game. The Suns improved to 6-5, climbing above .500 for the first time this season after starting 1-4.
Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while rookie Jeremiah Fears and Saddiq Bey each scored 15. New Orleans fell to 2-8, losing their second consecutive game following the only two wins of the season.
Phoenix pulled away early, holding a 29-22 lead after the first quarter and outscoring the Pelicans 35-19 in the second while hitting nine of 13 3-pointers. The Suns extended the advantage to 32 points in the second half and used 14 players, with 13 scoring.
The Suns’ balanced attack and hot shooting allowed them to dominate the boards and control the tempo. Phoenix shot 50% overall, including 44.2% from 3-point range, while limiting New Orleans to 41% from the field and 31.3% from deep.
Allen’s performance broke the previous franchise mark of nine 3-pointers, a record he had shared in three prior games.
The Pelicans will host Portland on Wednesday, seeking to recover from their fourth loss in five games. Phoenix will travel to Dallas on Wednesday night for their next matchup, aiming to continue their five-win surge over six games.
