Olympiacos veteran Georgios Printezis will not play for the Greece national side this summer due to injury.

Printezis suffered plantar fasciitis (foot injury) in game three of Olympiacos’ Greek League finals against Panathinaikos.

“Yesterday I informed coach Fotis Katsikaris that I won’t be able to help him and the team”, Printezis told Greek outlet Syros Sports.

“He showed a total understanding to what I told him, something that made me really glad. But generally I am quite sad for not being able to join the team this year. And that is because in the last two years our efforts have been pretty good and the final outcome wasn’t fair for us. The team was winning every game and we were playing good basketball. But we lost two knock-out games, one in each tournament, and that was it”

Printezis will miss at least one month due to the injury and he potentially could miss more.

Greece have been handed a favourable draw in Turin as they have housed with Iran and Mexico next month.
