Luka Doncic triple-double powers Lakers past Heat

Luka Doncic posted 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers over the Miami Heat 130-120 on Sunday night at crypto.com Arena. The win stretched the Lakers’ streak to three games and improved their record to 5-2.

Austin Reaves added 26 points and 11 assists for Los Angeles. Jake LaRavia came off the bench with 25 points.

The Lakers never trailed after an 8-0 start. They built an 18-point lead in the first half.

Jaxson Hayes scored a season-high 15 points on perfect 7-of-7 shooting. He hit his first career 3-pointer as a Laker.

Miami’s Jamie Jaquez Jr. led all scorers with 31 points. Bam Adebayo and Pelle Larsson each had 17 points for the Heat, who fell to 3-3.

Los Angeles played without LeBron James due to right-side sciatica. Deandre Ayton sat out with back spasms.

James is expected back this month. He stood and cheered when son Bronny James dunked off a Reaves alley-oop in the first quarter.

The Lakers led 43-36 after the first period. They took a 77-63 halftime advantage.

Marcus Smart recorded his 1,000th career steal for Los Angeles. Rui Hachimura contributed 15 points and six rebounds.

Andrew Wiggins scored 15 points for Miami. Kel’el Ware added seven points in limited minutes.

The Lakers shot 50.5 percent from the field and 15-of-46 from three. They committed 11 turnovers and forced 15.

Miami hit 51.2 percent overall but just 9-of-33 from deep. The Heat went 25-for-36 at the line.

Los Angeles outrebounded Miami 41-42. The Lakers dished 33 assists to 29 for the visitors.
