The Boston Celtics will exercise the third-year, $2.74 million team option on Baylor Scheierman for the 2026-27 season, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported Thursday.

Scheierman was the 30th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and is in the second year of his four-year, $12.8 million rookie scale contract.

Scheierman has played in 35 career games with Boston, averaging 3.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 11.9 minutes per game. This season, he has appeared in four games, averaging 0.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest.

Boston’s backcourt rotation, led by Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, relies on role players like Scheierman to balance minutes and preserve energy for the starters.

As the Celtics look to integrate their younger players, Scheierman will continue to have opportunities to contribute in practice and games.
