Hall of Famer Allen Iverson revealed he stopped drinking six months ago and said it has been life-changing. Speaking with Maurice DuBois on CBS Mornings while promoting his memoir Misunderstood, Iverson called giving up alcohol one of the best choices of his life.

The 50-year-old NBA legend emphasized that while his basketball legacy is secure, his personal growth comes from this lifestyle change. “One of my best decisions that I have ever made in my life was to stop drinking,” Iverson said, via TMZ.

Iverson explained that quitting alcohol has helped him regain clarity and consistency in his daily life. “When you get drunk, you’re not how you usually are. The more and more I see it on other people, the more and more it made me happy about the decision,” he added.

The former Philadelphia 76ers star also noted the positive effect on those around him. His wife, Tawanna, and others close to him have expressed appreciation for his decision. “The more and more I see how people around me appreciate it … I love it,” Iverson said.
