The Detroit Pistons have waived guard Quincy Olivari, HoopsHype reported. The move comes just one day after the team added him to the roster, signaling adjustments in Detroit’s guard rotation.
Olivari, 24, went undrafted in 2024 and spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-way contract. He appeared in two NBA games, averaging 1.5 points in limited minutes.
In the G League, Olivari showcased his scoring and playmaking, averaging 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists over 31 contests for South Bay. His three-point shooting hovered around 34 percent on high volume.
The guard also played in the 2025 NBA Summer League with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged 16.7 points and 3.3 rebounds across three games, drawing attention for efficiency at the free-throw line despite inconsistent perimeter shooting.
Detroit is coming off a 44–38 record, their first winning season since 2016, and a first-round playoff exit against the New York Knicks. The Pistons aim to build around Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Ausar Thompson.
Veteran additions like Caris LeVert and draft pick Chaz Lanier at 37th overall provide depth alongside the current guard rotation. Olivari’s waiver leaves the Pistons’ perimeter options with Cunningham, Lanier, Marcus Sasser, and the injured Jaden Ivey.
Olivari’s departure marks a brief tenure with the Pistons but keeps him eligible for potential G League assignments or future NBA opportunities.
