The Los Angeles Clippers are adding reinforcements to their roster. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the team has agreed to a deal with Zach Freemantle, a two-time All-Big East selection from Xavier.
Freemantle, 24, averaged 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds last season with the Musketeers. He earned All-Tournament honors at the Portsmouth Invitational after showcasing his scoring touch and rebounding ability.
The forward brings versatility to the Clippers’ frontcourt rotation. At 6-foot-9, Freemantle can stretch the floor while also rebounding effectively in the paint, making him a potential fit alongside veteran centers Brook Lopez and Ivica Zubac.
Freemantle’s college career was marked by both production and adversity. He averaged double figures in four of his five seasons, including 16.1 points and 8.9 rebounds as a sophomore, when he was named Big East Co-Most Improved Player.
After foot surgery sidelined him in 2023 and forced him to miss the entire 2023–24 season, he returned strong for his final year at Xavier. His efficient scoring—shooting over 51% from the field—made him one of the most reliable offensive options in the conference.
The Clippers are entering the 2025–26 campaign with a roster built around Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Bradley Beal. Depth has been a key priority for the front office, and signing Freemantle adds another developmental piece to their bench.
Along with first-round pick Yanic Konan Niederhäuser, Freemantle becomes another frontcourt addition expected to compete for minutes under Tyronn Lue.
