In a couple of moves which aim to strengthen the team and help their new unexperienced coach Pashutin CSKA Moscow decided to hire the Serbian duo of Milan Minic as the club’s technical advisor and Ivan Jeremic as one of Pashutin’s assistant coaches.
More spesifically Milan Minic is a well-known basketball figure in Europe having worked in major clubs such as Aris, Olympiakos, PAOK and Yugoslavian/Serbian National Team. He was hired as a technical advisor after CSKA’s x-coach Messina rejected the same position.
Milan Minic stated:
“My feelings are very simple – I am happy to be in the best club in Europe, to fight for the highest goals, to be the part of great organization. I am proud that CSKA management think that I can help the team – with my experience, knowledge, connections, desire to work with young players. I happy to get a chance to live in Russia, the country we, Serbians, treat as a brother. It is interesting for me to work alongside Evgeny Pashutin: I followed him last season and I was impressed how he behave himself in difficult games. Now all my thoughts will be about basketball and CSKA.”
In another move which will add experience to CSKA’s bench the Moscovite club hired Ivan Jeremic as an assistant coach of the club. Jeremic has previously worked as an assitant coach in CSKA, in the period between 2002 and 2005 with Dusan Ivkovic, while he has also worked for Lietuvos Rytas and BC Kiev.
The Serbian assistant coach said:
“I am happy to get back to the club where I already worked for three years. CSKA is one of the best if not the best teams in Europe so it is a great honor to be a part of it. I am also very glad to help Zhenya Pashutin, who is a good friend of mine. But I am sure he took me not because our friendship but because he knows how I work. He played in CSKA when I was an assistant to Duda Ivkovic and after that we were the colleagues for two more seasons. I think Zhenya is the most talented coach in Russia and one of the most promising coaches in Europe. I am sure he will do a good work.”
While the club’s head coach Evgeniy Pashutin, being satisfied, commented on both aforementioned additions:
“I am very glad that Jeremic and Minic will help CSKA. Both are well-known European coaches with great Euroleague experience. I hope we will reach great results together. I know Ivan for his work with Dusan Ivkovic in CSKA. Minic also worked under Ivkovic in Greece for 9 years. That means they passed the highest of schools. In my opinion we strengthened our coaching staff.”
In the meantime, CSKA extended the contract of another one of their assistant coaches, that of Georgy Artemiev, for another three years.
