The Chicago Bulls announced that Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey will be retired on Jan. 24, 2026, when the team hosts the Boston Celtics at the United Center.

The postgame ceremony will take place on the court, honoring the former league MVP and Chicago native. The event will also include a United Center atrium experience presented by BMO, FanDuel, Giordano’s, and Paylocity, with further details to be released at a later date.

To mark the announcement, the Bulls are displaying Rose-themed graphics outside the arena and in the atrium today from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The team also revealed a season-long tribute that includes four collectible figurine giveaways showcasing different stages of Rose’s Bulls career.

The first figurine, “Rookie of the Year” Derrick, will be distributed on Nov. 4, 2025, when the Bulls face the Philadelphia 76ers. Rose, drafted first overall in 2008, averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in his debut season and won Rookie of the Year with 111 of 120 first-place votes.

On Dec. 17, 2025, against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the “Face Mask” Derrick figurine will commemorate Rose’s return from a fractured orbital bone suffered before the 2015-16 season. He played 66 games that year, posting 16.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while wearing the protective mask.

The “MVP” Derrick figurine will be handed out Feb. 22, 2026, against the New York Knicks. Rose became the youngest MVP in league history in 2011, averaging 25 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds while leading Chicago to a 62-20 record and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

The final figurine, “Green Jersey” Derrick, will be given on March 19, 2026, in another matchup with Cleveland. It represents the alternate green uniform the Bulls wore twice during the 2010-11 season, when Rose averaged 22 points and 4.2 assists in those games.

Rose remains one of the most celebrated players in Bulls history. He played seven seasons in Chicago, earning three All-Star selections, the 2009 Rookie of the Year award, and the 2011 MVP.

The jersey retirement will make Rose the eighth Bulls player honored with a number in the rafters, joining Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Sloan, Bob Love, Chet Walker, Norm Van Lier, and Artis Gilmore.
