One of the standout figures of the Bosnian national team, Dzanan Musa, faces an uncertain future regarding his participation in the upcoming EuroBasket, as he recently had to undergo emergency abdominal surgery. His recovery timeline remains unclear, putting his availability for the tournament in question.
Even without Musa – who was one of the high-profile summer signings for Dubai BC – head coach Adis Beciragic’s squad showed resilience and depth. Bosnia and Herzegovina continued their winning form, securing another victory by defeating Belgium 73–60 in Oostende.
This win came just a day after their dominant performance against Great Britain, where they cruised to a convincing 103–73 result.
Former Virtus Bologna forward Amar Alibegovic emerged as the driving force in the triumph over Belgium, scoring a game-high 21 points. He was well supported by Utah Jazz center Jusuf Nurkic, who contributed 15 points and provided stability in the paint.
On the Belgian side, offensive production was much more limited. Hans Vanwijn was the team’s sole double-digit scorer, finishing with 12 points, while the rest of the roster struggled to find rhythm against Bosnia’s defense.
Looking ahead to EuroBasket, Bosnia and Herzegovina have been drawn into a challenging Group C, where they will face the hosts Cyprus, as well as strong opponents in Italy, Georgia, Spain, and Greece.
Meanwhile, Belgium will compete in Group D, which features host nation Poland alongside Iceland, France, Slovenia, and Israel – a group equally stacked with tough competition.
