ACB files lawsuit against Euroleague!

ImageThe Spanish ACB has asked Garrigues, the law firm representing the Spanish League, to file a lawsuit against the Euroleague and its new project before the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, after the draw of the competition held today.

As announced last Monday, the ACB has started through its lawyers firm, which is expert in competition in the European Community, the process of denuntiation before the top European body in competition, as the ACB considers that Euroleague competition commits a serious infraction of abuse of position and unfair competition.

Furthermore, the ACB will raise another complaint before the CAS ( Court of Arbitration for Sport ) in Switzerland to defend the illegality of a competition that doesn´t have, as of today, the consensus and the necessary approval of the Euroleague Assembly, which is the only body that can modify the rules comprised in the By-Laws and Regulations of this company.

The launching of the new Euroleague may bring, as the ACB has advised to its clubs, the possibility of important economical sanctions imposed by the European Community to those teams participating.

Likewise, the ACB, in order to defend the interest of the Spanish clubs and the principle of qualification through the National competitions, which is a value that has been underestimated by the Euroleague by granting indefinite spots, reserves the right to request protection before other institutions that are deemed appropriate.
