Thanasis Antetokounmpo is officially back with the Greek national team after being named to the preliminary roster for EuroBasket 2025.

The 33-year-old forward replaces 19-year-old Neoklis Avdalas, who withdrew from the squad ahead of training camp.

Antetokounmpo’s inclusion marks his return to competitive basketball following a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in May 2024.

He last played in the NBA during the 2023–24 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he appeared in 34 games and averaged 0.9 points and 0.4 rebounds in limited minutes.

Over his NBA career, Antetokounmpo played 198 regular-season games, mostly with Milwaukee, and won a championship in 2021.

He is expected to participate in Greece’s training camp and is a strong candidate to be included in the final 12-man roster for the tournament.

EuroBasket 2025 will run from August 27 to September 14, with Greece competing in Group C based in Limassol, Cyprus.

The national team will open group play against Italy on August 28, followed by matchups with Cyprus (August 30), Georgia (August 31), Bosnia and Herzegovina (September 2), and Spain (September 4).
