Thunder clinches 2025 NBA championship with Game 7 win over Pacers

The Oklahoma City Thunder captured their first NBA title since relocating from Seattle, defeating the Indiana Pacers 103-91 in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals on Sunday night.

With the victory, the Thunder secured the franchise’s second championship and first since the 1979 title won as the Seattle SuperSonics.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 29 points, adding 12 assists and five rebounds, while avoiding the turnover struggles that plagued him in Game 6.

Oklahoma City used a dominant third quarter, outscoring Indiana 34-20, to pull away after a tight first half.

Chet Holmgren contributed 18 points, eight boards, and five blocks, while Jalen Williams scored 20 and helped close out the win with key buckets in the fourth quarter.

The Thunder improved to 11-2 at home in the postseason and finished the playoffs without losing back-to-back games.

Indiana’s title drought continues despite a breakout postseason run. The Pacers were seeking their first NBA championship and first league title since the 1973 ABA season.

Bennedict Mathurin paced Indiana with 24 points and 13 rebounds off the bench, while Tyrese Haliburton scored nine points in just seven minutes before exiting with a re-aggravated calf injury.

The Pacers trailed by only one at halftime but couldn’t sustain their momentum after halftime, shooting 41.4% overall and turning the ball over 21 times.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault leaned heavily on his defensive core, with Alex Caruso and Cason Wallace combining for six steals and strong perimeter pressure.

The win caps a dominant season for Oklahoma City, who entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with a league-best 68-14 record.
