The New York Knicks are revisiting former candidates Jason Kidd and Billy Donovan amid their ongoing coaching search, according to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. Sources indicate both coaches are seeking contract extensions with their current teams but could be available if talks fall through.

Next week, the Knicks will conduct formal interviews with Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown. Jenkins was recently let go by the Memphis Grizzlies despite a strong 270–206 record. Brown parted ways with the Sacramento Kings midseason after a 13–18 start.

The Knicks’ attempts to interview coaches from other teams have met resistance. Chicago and Atlanta denied permission to speak with Billy Donovan and Quin Snyder, respectively. Dallas also blocked talks with Kidd, who guided the Mavericks to the Western Conference Play-In.

This series of refusals has raised questions about New York’s ability to attract high-profile candidates. Sources suggest the franchise may now focus on coaches known for player development or fresh strategies.

Johnny Bryant, a former Knicks assistant currently with Cleveland, is reportedly on the Knicks’ radar. The Cavaliers led the Eastern Conference this season with a 64–18 record.

The head coach vacancy opened after New York parted ways with Tom Thibodeau, who led the team to consecutive 50-win seasons and a third-place Eastern Conference finish.

League insiders expect the Knicks to continue contacting assistant coaches for interviews. The team aims to secure a coach who can maintain its competitive status and build on recent playoff success.
