The Washington Wizards are reportedly exploring trade options for Jordan Poole as the franchise evaluates its future direction ahead of the NBA Draft.

According to NBA Big Board’s Rafael Barlowe, there is a “growing belief” around the league that Poole could be moved either on draft night or later this offseason. Yahoo Sports’ Joshua Valdez highlighted the ongoing speculation tied to Washington’s plans under president Michael Winger and general manager Will Dawkins.

The Wizards finished last in the Eastern Conference with an 18–64 record and ranked 30th in defensive rating. Despite Poole starting all 68 games and averaging 20.5 points and 4.5 assists, his future in Washington appears uncertain.

Poole, who turns 26 next week, is entering the third year of a four-year, $128 million contract signed during his time with Golden State. He was acquired in July 2023 in a trade that sent Chris Paul to the Warriors, but his stint in D.C. has yet to yield consistent results.

Washington’s front office is reportedly rethinking its backcourt structure, and Barlowe noted that trading Poole “could open up a path for a new backcourt face.” That direction could become clear during the 2025 NBA Draft.

Poole shot 43.2% from the field and 37.8% from three this season while logging 29.4 minutes per game.

While his offensive numbers have been solid, Poole has drawn criticism for inconsistency and defensive lapses. Washington gave up 120.4 points per game — the worst mark in the NBA — and often struggled to contain opposing guards.
