The Phoenix Suns are not pursuing Karl-Anthony Towns, according to a report from John Gambadoro on Arizona Sports. Gambadoro confirmed that the Suns have no interest in acquiring the Knicks center.
Towns was traded to New York in October 2024 and has since posted impressive numbers, including multiple 40-point games and an All-Star starter nod. Despite Towns’ strong performance, the Suns have decided not to make a move for him.
The Suns are currently in a rebuilding phase under new management after missing the playoffs for the 2024-25 season. The team recently fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, replacing him with Jordan Ott, and named Brian Gregory as general manager.
Phoenix’s focus remains on developing their existing roster, including stars Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal. With limited draft capital and a need for flexibility, the Suns appear uninterested in major trades involving Towns.
Towns continues to be a key player for the Knicks, averaging 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds this season. However, Phoenix’s strategy suggests they will prioritize internal growth over chasing big-name veterans like Towns.
The Suns finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 36-46 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Moving forward, the franchise aims to rebuild and return to playoff contention without Towns in the mix.
