DETROIT– The first Horizon League Basketball Championships at Joe Louis Arena will feature Green Bay (22-12 and Wright State (22-12) in the finals. Playing on the new floor at JLA and branded as Motor City Madness, both teams had upset wins during the semi-finals.

Green Bay beat Valparaiso 99-92, in a thriller that went into overtime and Wright State bested Oakland 59-55.

The champion will get the Horizon Leagues’ automatic NCAA tournament bid.

In the first game, Valpo tied the score with two seconds left, when Jubril Adekoya snagged a rebound and threw the ball the length of the court. Alec Peters caught it and laid it up for a basket. It was tied at 79-79. In overtime, Green Bay methodically took Valpo apart for the 99-92 win.
