The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal to bring veteran coach Mike Miller aboard as an assistant on Doug Christie’s staff, according to a May 30 report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Miller, 60, brings over three decades of coaching experience to Sacramento, including stints as an NBA head coach and G League standout.

He served as the New York Knicks’ interim head coach during the 2019–20 season and was named NBA G League Coach of the Year in 2018 after leading the Westchester Knicks to a 32–18 record.

Following his time with the Knicks, Miller joined the Oklahoma City Thunder as an assistant before spending the 2021–24 seasons on the Washington Wizards’ bench.

The Kings’ move comes as they enter a transitional phase following a disappointing end to the 2024–25 campaign.

Sacramento finished ninth in the Western Conference at 40–42 before falling to the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-In Tournament, marking their second consecutive early postseason exit.

Doug Christie was promoted to interim head coach after Mike Brown’s firing in March and was officially named head coach on May 1.
