Following their elimination from the playoffs, Timberwolves standouts Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker addressed the uncertain futures they face as potential free agents this offseason, reports Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Among the three, Reid appeared the most forward-looking about his next steps. The 25-year-old big man indicated he’s likely to decline his player option in search of a longer-term contract, whether that’s with Minnesota or elsewhere.

“I think the work has been put in,” Reid said of his growth and value. “Obviously, I’ve got a long way to go with being only 25, but for sure. I think that’s what the future looks like for me.”

Despite believing he has the talent to be a starter in the league, Reid suggested he’d be willing to continue coming off the bench if he remains with the Timberwolves.

In contrast, Randle and Alexander-Walker were less focused on free agency, indicating that they hadn’t given much thought to their offseason decisions yet.

Both downplayed any immediate concern about their contract situations in the aftermath of the team’s postseason exit.
