College players who declared for the 2025 NBA Draft as early entrants are now approaching a key decision point.

Under NCAA rules, these players have until next Wednesday, May 29, to officially withdraw their names from the draft if they wish to retain their collegiate eligibility and return to school for another season.

Although the NBA’s final deadline to withdraw from the draft is June 15, staying in past the NCAA’s earlier cutoff comes at a cost.

If a college player chooses to withdraw from the draft between May 29 and June 15, they will no longer be eligible to return to NCAA basketball, effectively ending their college careers regardless of whether they are ultimately drafted or not.

This makes the May 29 deadline especially significant for underclassmen who are still weighing their draft outlook versus the benefits of returning to school for another year of development.

Players and programs alike will be closely monitoring this week’s decisions, which could reshape rosters across the NCAA.
