NBC Sports has significantly strengthened its basketball coverage by bringing on none other than Michael Jordan as a special contributor ahead of the NBA’s return to the network this fall.

In a press release, NBC confirmed the addition of the six-time NBA champion and global icon, marking a high-profile move that connects the league’s past greatness with its present and future.

Jordan expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying that NBC’s previous NBA broadcasts held a special place in his storied career. “I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” he said.

“The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

While specific details about his role haven’t been shared yet, his involvement alone is expected to generate substantial attention and anticipation.

NBC Sports also celebrated the announcement on social media, calling Jordan “a legendary addition” and sharing a nostalgic clip from his playing days. His presence adds even more star power to a lineup that already includes NBA veterans like Carmelo Anthony, Reggie Miller, and Jamal Crawford.

Jordan’s resume speaks volumes: a five-time MVP, 14-time All-Star, and a central figure in the NBA’s global expansion. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time.

Beyond the court, he has made a lasting impact as a team owner, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, including his role as Chief Wish Ambassador for Make-A-Wish since 2008.

NBC Sports President Rick Cordella underscored the magnitude of the announcement, stating, “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”

With the NBA’s 11-year media rights agreement bringing the league back to NBC, the inclusion of Michael Jordan reconnects fans to a golden era while ushering in a new chapter in basketball broadcasting.
