In a recent episode of The Third Apron podcast hosted by Yossi Gozlan, The Athletic’s Law Murray shared insights into what could shape the LA Clippers’ strategy during the upcoming offseason.

One of the key takeaways was Murray’s belief that veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon might be at the top of the Clippers’ wish list this summer.

“I would consider Brogdon a primary target for the Clippers,” Murray stated during the podcast. “They almost traded (for him previously). I think if Brogdon would have been a buyout guy, I think the Clippers would have considered him along with Ben Simmons.”

Murray’s comment highlights the Clippers’ longstanding interest in Brogdon, suggesting that the franchise had been close to acquiring him in a previous transaction and would likely revisit that opportunity now that he’s approaching unrestricted free agency.

The mention of a potential buyout scenario also implies that the Clippers see Brogdon as a valuable piece they might pursue under the right financial circumstances.

Brogdon played in 24 games during the 2024–25 season with the Washington Wizards. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per contest and shot 43% from the field.

However, his three-point shooting dipped below his career norm, as he connected on just 28.6% from long range.

Set to hit the open market in July, Brogdon enters free agency amid uncertainty regarding his role in Washington. The Wizards, who are in a transitional phase, may not view the 32-year-old guard as a long-term fit.

After being acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers, Brogdon’s time in the nation’s capital appeared more as a placeholder move.

With Washington having brought in veterans like Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart at the trade deadline, their roster’s direction and priorities heading into the offseason remain fluid, possibly clearing the path for a team like the Clippers to make a strong offer.
