Draymond Green didn’t hold back when addressing Dillon Brooks following the Houston Rockets’ Game 7 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
On the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, the veteran forward pointed to a lack of respect from peers as a key reason for Brooks’ struggles in the series.
“I got a lot of love for young fella… but Dillon Brooks couldn’t come through in this series in large part because nobody on the court respects you,” Green said, via HoopsHype.
Houston was eliminated Sunday night after a 103-89 defeat, despite being the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
The Rockets had fought back from a 3–1 series deficit to force a Game 7 but could not complete the comeback.
Buddy Hield broke the Game 7 three-point record with nine makes on 11 attempts, leading Golden State with 33 points off the bench.
Green, who finished with 16 points, referenced Brooks’ on-court behavior and noted how it ultimately worked against Houston’s postseason hopes.
“When you trying to compete at the highest level and you that type of guy, it ain’t beneficial to your team,” Green said.
Brooks, who had been vocal throughout the series, was held to 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting in Game 7 and exited the court without acknowledging any Warriors players.
Green took issue with that decision, stating, “He ran off the court, like ain’t shake nobody up.”
The criticism came just days after Brooks admitted post-Game 2 that he had intentionally tried to disrupt Stephen Curry’s rhythm by “going at his hand.”
Curry closed Game 7 with 14 of his 22 points in the final quarter and added 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Green emphasized accountability in the postseason, particularly for players with a reputation for instigating conflict.
“If you going to be Mr. Big Bad Wolf… don’t lose and then not face the music,” Green said. “You lose a lot of respect for guys in that moment.”
