Liga Endesa 2015-16 round up (week 21)

Sergio Llull nailed the Hail Mary of all game-winners in Real Madrid’s 95-94 road victory over Valencia in week 21 of the Liga Endesa.

Valencia thought that they had won it when a runner by Antoine Diot with 1.3 seconds gave them a 94-92 edge but Llull, who had earlier hit a tough lay-up to knot the game up at 92-92, had other plans.

Jaycee Carroll paced the league champions with 18 points with Llull and Andres Nocioni both adding 17.

The loss drops Valencia into second place as Barcelona take charge of the Liga Endesa after an 87-76 win at Zaragoza.

Justin Doellman led six Barcelona players in double figures with 14 points in the win.

Laboral Kutxa stay in fourth spot after they comfortably saw off relegation threatened Estudiantes 107-77 in Vitoria. Darius Adams led the charge with a game-high 23 points.

Bilbao created some breathing space in the playoff race after they toppled Andorra 83-72 in an excellent advertisement for Spanish basketball.

Clevin Hannah led all scorers with 20 points for Bilbao and while Stephen Holt top scored with 14 points for Andorra on his full league debut, the independent principality fall further outside the playoff race and plummet to tenth.

Two teams tucked in the top eight, Gran Canaria and Fuenlabrada both secured road wins in week 21 as Las Palmas edged out basement side Gipuzkoa 87-79 and Fuenlabada were narrow 78-73 victors over Manresa.

Elsewhere around the league, Joventut Badalona suffered a 73-68 road loss to playoff chasing Tenerife, Sevilla beat Rio Monbus 67-58 and UCAM Murcia claimed a shock 90-79 win over Unicaja Malaga as the two teams switch places in the league table meaning that Unicaja drop outside the top eight and Murcia move in.
