Jrue Holiday has been named the recipient of the Joe Dumars Trophy after being selected as the winner of the 2024-25 NBA Sportsmanship Award. This marks the second time Holiday has earned this prestigious recognition, with his first win coming during the 2020-21 season while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The NBA Sportsmanship Award, introduced in the 1995-96 season, is presented annually to the player who most exemplifies the principles of fairness, integrity, and respect in the game of basketball.
The award is named in honor of Joe Dumars, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and two-time NBA champion who spent his entire 14-year career with the Detroit Pistons. Dumars was also the first-ever recipient of the award, setting the standard for future honorees.
Holiday’s recognition for sportsmanship adds to an already impressive résumé that highlights his leadership and character. In addition to his two Sportsmanship Awards, he has been honored three times with the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.
This accolade is given to the player who demonstrates exemplary selflessness, leadership, and commitment to his teammates both on and off the court. Holiday’s continued influence as a mentor and role model has made him widely respected across the league.
Further showcasing his impact beyond basketball, Holiday is once again a finalist for the NBA Social Justice Champion Award for the 2024-25 season – his third time being selected as a finalist since the award was established five years ago.
Now in his 16th NBA season, Holiday has built a distinguished career marked by excellence and consistency. He is a two-time NBA All-Star and has been named to the Kia NBA All-Defensive Team six times, recognizing his elite performance on that end of the floor.
Holiday has also captured two NBA championships – one with the Boston Celtics and one with the Milwaukee Bucks – and has represented the United States on the international stage, winning two Olympic gold medals with the USA Men’s National Basketball Team.
