Chicago Bulls guard Coby White continued his impressive development last season, solidifying his status as one of the league’s rising young backcourt talents.
After a breakout year, there’s growing curiosity around the league – and among Bulls fans – about what his next contract could look like.
White is currently on a highly team-friendly deal, a three-year, $36 million contract he signed in 2023. He’s set to earn $12.9 million for the 2025–26 season, a number that falls below the league’s average salary.
That relatively low figure makes him eligible for a contract extension this offseason, potentially a four-year deal projected to be worth around $89 million.
While that offer would average just over $22 million annually – a substantial raise from his current contract – it’s still seen as below market value for a player of White’s caliber and upside.
Based on his performance and growth, many believe he could eventually command significantly more.
But Bulls fans shouldn’t take the lack of an extension this offseason as a sign that White’s days in Chicago are numbered. Quite the opposite.
The expectation is that both sides are playing the long game, with plans to revisit contract talks in the 2026 offseason.
That’s when White will become eligible for a much larger payday, potentially in the range of $40 million per year, based on projected cap increases and his continued development.
If White keeps trending upward, the Bulls could be looking at locking in one of the Eastern Conference’s top young guards to a long-term max-level deal.
For now, both player and team appear aligned in their approach, opting to wait for the right time to strike a more lucrative deal.
