Jalen Brunson is nearing his return from an ankle sprain, with the New York Knicks targeting this weekend as a realistic timeframe for his comeback.

According to Ian Begley, the All-Star guard could be back in action for either Friday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks or Sunday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns.

Brunson has been sidelined since March 7, missing the last 13 games due to the injury.

Despite his absence, the Knicks have managed to stay competitive, posting an 8-5 record without their leading scorer and playmaker.

Brunson is averaging 26.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game this season while shooting 47.6% from the field and 40.1% from three-point range.

New York (48-27) currently holds the third seed in the Eastern Conference, trailing the first-place Cleveland Cavaliers by 12 games and the second-place Boston Celtics by four.
