
California, PA – March 26, 2025 – Donald Whitehead, Jr., one of the top Division II college basketball point guards in the nation, has been named NABC Division ll All-American team and has officially entered the transfer portal following a standout junior season at California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U). Whitehead, a dynamic playmaker known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court, recently earned multiple prestigious accolades, including First Team All-District, First Team All-Atlantic Region, PSAC West Athlete of the Year, and First Team All-Atlantic Regional selection.
Whitehead had a stellar 2024-2025 season, finishing with 505 points and averaging 19.3 points per game alongside 5 assists per game. Over his career at Cal U, he has accumulated an impressive 1,088 career points, solidifying his position as one of the top players in NCAA Division II basketball.

Prior to his time at Cal U, Whitehead was a standout at Hickory High School in Hermitage, PA, where he was named PA State Player of the Year and selected to the PA All-State First Team, finishing his high school career with an impressive 1,837 points. His ability to both score and facilitate the offense made an immediate impact on the collegiate scene.
Having proven himself as one of the most versatile and skilled point guards in the country, Whitehead is poised to be a major asset for any Division I program looking to compete for championships. His all-around game, featuring an excellent combination of scoring, playmaking, and leadership, is the type of talent that can elevate a team to new heights.
Whitehead is currently being recruited by several mid-major schools, including Mount St. Mary’s University, University of Albany, Mercyhurst University, UC Riverside, University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and others.
