Grizzlies dominate second half in blowout win over Jazz

The Memphis Grizzlies overwhelmed the Utah Jazz with a dominant second half, securing a 140-103 victory on Tuesday night.

Desmond Bane led Memphis with 21 points, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 19 before briefly exiting after being hit in the face. He returned to the bench late in the game but wasn’t needed as the Grizzlies cruised to victory.

Despite missing Ja Morant, who remains sidelined with a hamstring strain, Memphis outscored Utah 76-38 after halftime. The Grizzlies improved to 44-28 and remain in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

Utah, playing without key players Lauri Markkanen, John Collins, and Jordan Clarkson, struggled to sustain its early success from beyond the arc. The Jazz hit 13 of their first 19 three-point attempts but cooled off in the second half, missing five straight at one point.

Trailing 61-47 late in the second quarter, Memphis went on a 17-2 run, capped by a Jaylen Wells bucket, to take a 64-63 lead into halftime. The momentum carried into the third quarter, where the Grizzlies outscored the Jazz 41-17, their most lopsided period this season.

Scotty Pippen Jr. contributed 16 points and 10 assists for Memphis, while Vince Williams Jr. and Zach Edey each added 15 points off the bench. The Grizzlies outrebounded Utah 33-8 in the second half, exposing the Jazz’s lack of interior presence.

Isaiah Collier led Utah with 21 points, while Collin Sexton added 15. The Jazz have now dropped 13 of their last 14 games and remain in last place in the Western Conference at 16-57.
