Joe Rogan was left in disbelief after watching footage of Serbian basketball fans, calling the atmosphere “the most terrifying” he had ever seen.
During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the popular podcaster and comedian reacted to clips of the intense fan culture in Serbia, particularly from games between Partizan and Crvena Zvezda. The heated rivalry between the two Belgrade clubs is known for producing some of the most electric atmospheres in basketball.
“That’s war. That’s war. How long before these guys take over basketball?” Rogan said to his guest, comedian Bert Kreischer. Kreischer, equally impressed, responded, “Give them another year.”
Rogan continued his amazement, comparing the Serbian crowd’s energy to combat. “That’s the most terrifying basketball game I’ve ever seen in my life. Imagine showing an American basketball crowd what they do in Serbia, you’d be like, ‘Oh no, they’re coming.'”
Kreischer then suggested how thrilling it would be to see a Serbian team play against an inner-city squad from the U.S. Rogan, still taking in the intensity of the clips, responded, “Holy sh*t! That’s like fight night intensity.”
Serbian basketball fans have long been recognized for their passion, with their choreographed chants, pyrotechnics, and unwavering support creating a unique atmosphere. The Partizan-Crvena Zvezda rivalry, in particular, stands among the fiercest in the sport, with matches often feeling more like a battlefield than a basketball game.
While Rogan only experienced Serbian basketball culture through a screen, his reaction highlights why many consider it one of the most intense sporting environments in the world.
