Warriors edge Raptors as Jimmy Butler records triple-double

Jimmy Butler notched his second triple-double since joining Golden State, helping the Warriors secure a 117-114 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. The win capped off a 6-1 homestand for Steve Kerr’s squad, which has now gone 16-3 since acquiring Butler before the trade deadline.

The Warriors (49-24) had to withstand a late push from Toronto (24-46) while playing without Stephen Curry, who left in the third quarter with a pelvic contusion. Curry landed hard on his tailbone after driving for a layup and did not return for the final 15 minutes.

Butler finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists, while Draymond Green led Golden State with 21 points and seven boards. Quinten Post provided a spark off the bench, knocking down six three-pointers for 18 points.

Scottie Barnes paced the Raptors with 29 points and 10 rebounds, while Immanuel Quickley contributed 21 points and Jakob Poeltl added 18 points with eight boards. Toronto, missing RJ Barrett for the third straight game, kept the contest competitive but failed to complete the comeback.

With the Warriors clinging to a three-point lead in the closing moments, Butler came up with a crucial block on Jamal Shead’s layup attempt. He was fouled on the ensuing possession and sank both free throws to secure the win.

Golden State remains in the Western Conference playoff hunt, while Toronto continues to struggle in the East, sitting outside the play-in tournament picture.
