Sabonis, the NBA’s leading rebounder, recently returned after missing six straight games but will now be forced to sit again. The Kings have struggled in his absence, posting a 3-6 record without him this season.
The 28-year-old is averaging 19.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 34.8 minutes per game. His playmaking and presence in the paint have been crucial to Sacramento’s offense.
The Kings, currently 39-30 and ninth in the Western Conference standings, are battling for playoff positioning. They will need to find ways to stay competitive without their All-Star center.
