Ja Morant has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing the game ball into the stands during the Memphis Grizzlies’ 114-113 loss to the New York Knicks on February 28.
The incident occurred at the end of the third quarter at FedExForum. While Morant did not receive an in-game technical or ejection, the NBA later determined that his actions warranted a fine.
Morant, 25, has been averaging 20.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 29.4 minutes per game this season. His presence has been crucial for Memphis as the team pushes for playoff positioning.
The Grizzlies, currently 38-22, hold the fourth seed in the Western Conference. They remain in a tight race for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
