Jalen Brunson scored 31 points as the New York Knicks overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat the Miami Heat 116-112 in overtime on Sunday night. The win extended New York’s streak to three games and strengthened its hold on the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
OG Anunoby contributed 23 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns recorded 19 points and 16 rebounds. The Knicks, now 40-20, trailed by 17 at halftime before rallying in the second half.
Brunson’s clutch three-pointer with 2:27 left in overtime put the Knicks ahead 111-110, sparking a decisive 7-0 run. Alec Burks cut the deficit to two with a late three, but Anunoby sealed the win with a dunk in the final seconds.
Bam Adebayo led Miami with 30 points on 12-for-16 shooting. Tyler Herro added 22, and rookie Kel’el Ware finished with 12 points and a career-high six blocks.
New York’s comeback took shape in the third quarter when it closed on a 17-5 run after trailing by as many as 17. In the fourth, Miles McBride’s jumper with 2:58 remaining gave the Knicks their first lead at 101-100.
Down by four in the final minute of regulation, New York forced overtime with Anunoby’s tip-in and Brunson’s jumper. The Knicks dominated the paint in overtime after being outscored by 20 inside at halftime.
The Heat, now 28-31, were without Andrew Wiggins and Jaime Jaquez Jr., both sidelined with ankle injuries. Haywood Highsmith and Duncan Robinson combined for 18 points off the bench, while Davion Mitchell added 11 as Miami suffered its second straight loss.
New York shot 48.4% from the field but struggled from deep, making just 31.8% of its three-point attempts. Miami shot 53.6% overall but had 12 turnovers, leading to costly extra possessions for the Knicks.
