Donovan Mitchell understood that for the Cleveland Cavaliers to reach their full potential as championship contenders, Darius Garland needed to have more opportunities to handle the ball, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.’s report.

As a result, Mitchell’s statistics have slightly decreased this season. Despite that, Garland has expressed deep gratitude toward Mitchell, acknowledging the pivotal role the former Louisville standout has played in shaping the team’s culture.

Garland’s agent, Rich Paul, elaborated on the chemistry between the two players, emphasizing that while both are incredibly talented, their success also hinges on their character and how they work together off the court.

“It’s one thing to be great talents, but it’s another thing to be great dudes,” Paul said. “When you got two ball-dominant players, they have to get a rhythm. In any relationship it takes the effort, no matter if it’s personal or business.

“It takes the effort to stay consistently successful. Those two guys have come out, checked their egos at the door and it’s really shown that, ‘Hey, this thing could work now.’“
