The Phoenix Suns have made a notable adjustment to their starting lineup, reinstating veteran guard Bradley Beal as a starter. Beal took the place of guard Tyus Jones in the first unit for the Suns’ matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.

Despite the change, Phoenix head coach Mike Budenholzer emphasized that Jones remains an integral part of the team and will continue to have a significant role off the bench.

Budenholzer’s decision was driven by a need to spark the team, as the Suns have struggled recently, slipping to 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Heading into Sunday’s game, they trailed the Sacramento Kings by 1.5 games for the final Play-In Tournament spot.

“He organizes us. He brings leadership, stability,” Budenholzer said. “He’s a point guard. He’s that guy that’s looking to get everybody involved. Has a comfort level with that spot. He’s been good.”

Although Beal had been more efficient in his role coming off the bench, his overall numbers dipped slightly due to a decrease in playing time, averaging about two-and-a-half fewer minutes per game.

Nonetheless, the Suns are hoping that reinserting Beal into the starting lineup can provide the boost they need as they fight to stay in playoff contention.
