The Houston Rockets (34-20) secured a 119-111 victory over the Phoenix Suns (26-28) on Wednesday night, fueled by Tari Eason’s 25-point performance and Amen Thompson’s triple-double.
The game remained close until the final minutes when Houston pulled ahead with an 11-2 run, sparked by Jalen Green’s five straight points. Dillon Brooks then hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Rockets a decisive lead.
Thompson recorded his fourth career triple-double with 18 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, marking his second of the month. Alperen Sengun added 17 points and 13 rebounds despite dealing with back issues in the previous game. Green contributed 22 points, helping Houston win its second straight game.
Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 37 points, but the Suns struggled without Devin Booker, who missed the game due to a bruised lower back. Phoenix has now lost three straight and six of its last seven games.
The Suns built an eight-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Houston responded with a strong finish, outscoring them 35-19 in the final period. The Rockets capitalized on 17 Phoenix turnovers, converting them into 25 points.
Eason, starting in place of the injured Jabari Smith Jr., delivered an efficient 11-for-16 shooting night while also grabbing nine rebounds. Brooks finished with 18 points, shooting 4-for-9 from three-point range.
Durant had a productive night for Phoenix, shooting 15-for-22 from the field while adding nine assists and five rebounds. Bol Bol contributed 15 points, and Nick Richards recorded 11 points and 13 rebounds, but the Suns’ depleted lineup struggled to maintain their lead late.
Houston’s balanced scoring attack proved crucial, with all five starters reaching double figures. The Rockets also dominated on the glass, outrebounding Phoenix 47-43 and securing key second-chance opportunities.
Phoenix will look to regroup as they continue to battle injuries to Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen. Meanwhile, Houston’s victory strengthens its hold on the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
